Genesis 35

God is calling us up. Now God says go up to Bethel.

In this chapter of Genesis, Jacob returns to the same place where he had met face to face with God while fleeing from his brother Esau; now he goes to Bethel with all his family.

In this study we will see how God leads the seed of Jacob through a process where he takes first place in the hearts and minds of them.

Genesis 28:15

I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.

It is interesting to understand that there are times when God will lead us to sites that have marked our lives to return to have this wonderful meeting one day impact our lives.

Bethel, place ofdeath.

Genesis 35:1

Then God say to Jacob, “Go up to Bethel and settle there, and build an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you were fleeing from your brother Esau.”

One of the meanings of Bethel is a place of death, represents the place where God leads us to a new birth, and this year 2009 we began to live this word.

Jesus tells Nicodemus that to enter the kingdom of heaven must be born again, and for be born again is necessary die.  God is saying goes up to Bethel, which is in that place where you were someone, where you had a spiritual position; because there will be something new and not only wants to bless, but God wants to bring a change of name and position to the Church.  The Prophet said the church would not be called more “helpless” if not “desired city”.

Simon son of Jonah was wrong again and again, But Peter built a powerful apostolic church; Saul of Tarsus persecuted church, but Paul accepted the persecution of an entire generation; Abram was exalted father, but Abraham was the father of multitudes. Then it means that there is a change that God wants to bring to our lives, a spiritual change.  So, God tells us to go to the place where you were one day (to where you were fleeing from your brother).

We see that Jacob was fleeing his brother Esau, and because it has a face to face with God, The Bible states that he is going to that place, sleep there, has a dream and sees a door open that it was in heaven and a staircase with one end on the ground and the other in the heavens, he sees angels ascending and descending the presence of God. This is the experience he had Jacob and he realized that the heavens had opened literally (Genesis 28). God has placed a ladder which will go up and tread firm, because he has said the feet and ankles in the prophetic act that we do to Tierra del Fuego (South of Argentina), means that we will not taking steps in the air, if not that will tread firm. God reminds us that the door is open and there is also a ladder so we can go step by step, rung by rung.

When Jacob sees the ladder, he understands that there was a path that God had drawn, experiencing something awful and states that had a face to face, had a profound encounter with God so that from that time was no longer the same person. And sometimes God will lead us to spiritual sites just to renew our covenants, to make us understand that there are places that we step back and go to renew vows and that at some point God will show us that still pervaded and continues to be committed to what he said, with the word he gave that day and there will be no compliance. The difference is that the first time Jacob was alone, but this time he invited his family and all the people.

As Apostle I want to take a level where you begin to hear and experience things that God ever gave me, things that sometime did with me, he wants them to you.

God tells Jacob to go up, stay there and build an altar, God called him to the same place where it was processed a day, and this time he invites his family. On the first occasion he talks to his wife and children, he said: “you stay here I will go alone”, he knew that at that time had to be alone because he needed a face to face with God, a moment alone with him; but in the second chance that God summoned him to Bethel, he understands he can not go alone, supernatural experience was not only to him. There are stages in which we must pass alone, but today God is calling a group of people.

Genesis 35:2

So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, “Get rid of the foreign gods you have with you, and purify yourselves and change your clothes.”

God at this time, is removing the foreign gods, this does not mean we are worshiping images, if not we must remove the priorities, everything that comes before God, (husband or wife, children, work, profession, status, business) , removing them to put God first, because when we do that we also have a face to face with God and will not be for some if not that for everyone.

In Luke Jesus tells the devil:

Luke 4:8

“It is written: ` Worship the Lord your God and serve him only`”

God gives us something when we lose the importance of having it, as is a desire God will not give it because it works with our character and our personality. He has to work with that area that is within us, because he knows that you crave and want, put it in the wrong place if you’re not prepared. God will not give anything if we are not ready to have it; can even change reality for our sake. Sometimes we have a prophetic word and we must be humble enough to ask God if we are really prepared to live it, because of the overnight, we can find fame, with lights that dazzle our eyes and we may end up crashing and crashed.

So, even prophetic word that you have, you should ask God if you’re prepared to live it, and sometimes not even by us, we are a team and we are interested that no one is lost on the way; we are not like those, who by winning things, they leave behind those who are unprepared.

The Processof God

God spoke to us of inheritance and possession, by Joshua and the conquest that God had prepared, but in the midst of these men conquerors, there was one named Achan had greed in his heart.

For 9 years I’ve been fighting with greed, and understand when we are attacked spiritually and financially, because the devil hates that I fight against greed. Some people are treated more deeply than others, or that God answers them later than others, and it is because their hearts are not one hundred percent covered. It is better to be tried, before entering situations that are not prepared as pride; vainglory, vanity, arrogance and greed are often the product of the rebellion that exists.

We must prepare for the moment of success, by the time of prosperity. Jacob was ready to take his family and all the people to an encounter deep and real.

If God takes a bit is because he knows the right moment in which we are prepared for that fame does not make us wrong.

The humble prayer that someone can do is tell God that if we are not prepared at this time in order to fulfill his word, he prepares us and mold us into His likeness by removing all rebellion, selfishness, individualism, all that does not like, in order to be the instrument of blessing that he wants to be.

When we are ready to remove the foreign gods, there is a Bethel waiting for us, death to rebirth. This happens when we allow God to treat us, some hide behind a life that was trampled on and say they will not let happen again, that’s when God treats us, because they are lifted against us, humility is not to be missed. It is God who fights for us and he will make the lives of those who stood up against us.

God has to break this idol, this situation is even more important than God. For many, material things are very important, and if today can not buy them thinking that someday they may have it, but in his heart there is greed, and motivation to work hard is getting what they want, that’s when God began the treatment, because we can not fulfill the purpose on this earth with an attitude like that, he needs to keep us in humility, because it is not what we want to achieve if not what God wants to give.

God prepares us for the moment of success, since we took the right decision to start from scratch by putting everything in God’s hands, because one thing is to pay the price to allow God to treat us, and another thing to decide to give everything for God, understanding that leaving father, mother and land for God we receive a hundredfold in this time, and I want to live that in this land, so I put everything in God’s hands, that he does as he pleases.

After having a face to face with God, he returns to what was placed in his hands and even better recovery at all and a little more.
Together, we reach the road to success if we are willing to remove the foreign gods, nothing can be more important than God in our lives, nothing more important than the love of the Father.

When we look beyond the economic possibilities and we strip away everything we can minister freely, because there is life in what is preached.

There are people that bother to talk about money, offering deals and think that is something fleshly when it is something spiritual. If we look at Matthew 6, we realize that prayer, fasting and sacrifice are in the same chapter; for God three things are equal, all three are spiritual issues. Therefore, God’s dealings with us, because when we feel free, walk in liberality and are willing to leave everything, and if necessary to start again, God knows that counts with us for life, and the devil knows can be not rise up against us, because when we left all hell can not reach.

At this level God wants to lead, where nothing is more important than him, that has to occur within each of us, the problem is when God has to try and deal with us, when material things attract attention, for example the storefronts.

Moses was the man most docile of the earth, but God worked with him forty years.  There is nothing more beautiful than accept the process of God; is not anointing or revelation; is character, is maturity, is to accept the life of God over the things we want to live.

David was able to stay in the palace, but returned to the house of his father with the sheep, returned to bide his time and when the day came, he was ready.

God begins to prepare people, and people have already been processed. The prophet Isaiah says that God sends builders who will do hurry, and this has nothing to do with age or time; he can do in a month did not do in a year, depends exclusively on our decision, to give up and surrender to God to do as he wishes, therein lies God’s dealings with us, and overnight we became a spiritual man full of grace and love of God in an attitude of humility, acknowledging God in all our ways.

Depending upon the will of God is to do nothing without him, and that is where we can delight in God as the psalmist David:

Psalm 40:8

I desire to do your will, O my God;

Your law is within my heart.

At this point, doing God’s will is not a weight or a burden, if not a joy, a delight in which we recognize the sacrifice of the Cross, We recognize the throne and the Lamb Slain and love he had for us, and that is why we hold him, no offerings or tithe because we are obliged to, but because we love him and we are grateful, pray and fast not to manipulate God, we offer the best and want more intimate and more depth to him, because God gives grace to the humble and resists the proud. When we have a face to face with God, our life belongs to him.

God responds.

Genesis 35:3

Then come, let us go up to Bethel, where I will build an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and who has been with me wherever I have gone.

God is inviting us as Jacob to build an altar. How beautiful it is to be in the right place to worship a God who answers.
We’re going up to Bethel and make an altar to God who answered on the day of distress.

Acts 13:22

After removing Saul, he made David their king. He testified concerning him: ´ I have found Davis son of Jesse a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.

David is chosen by a single attribute and that is that he will do what God wants. God sees us in the day to day, not worried whether we disclose it or not, if he is interested in our hearts that we may become a man or a woman after God’s heart and to do everything he wants, depend on God.

David said: Many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord shall deliver me from all of them. We will have difficult moments, but if we walk in love and justice, our belief is that all the afflictions, the Lord will rescue us; he sends his love to his time, so we live in love and fellowship. Jacob knew that God had spared the anguish. Perhaps we have had a difficult time and we meet God, and it is he whom we have built an altar, not the husband or wife, or the business or job, or bank account. The will of God is that businesses, properties or work, literally become an altar for him. The men of faith like Abraham and Isaac, to name a few, the first thing they did when they came to a place was to build an altar to God, we must raise altar and we must take care with our lives, we can not allow the altar to become contaminated with curses or words against the purpose, we take care of the altar raised.

Many of those who will bring their resources and offerings, but we’re the ones who have the authority to put God before him, we are priests, not everyone can make an offering before God, men who have been chosen not have greed in his heart.

When we depend one hundred percent God, no demons that we can minister, if any, the reason would be an open door which should be closed. If they exist and are saying things that are not from God, then we must surrender completely to God and demons can never come to minister thoughts to defeat the purpose. Do not think badly of people, we will not look at earthly things and our thoughts on material things, because thoughts are controlled by God, therefore, we must tear down every argument raised against the knowledge of God and take every thought captive, and bring all our thoughts into obedience to Christ, because obedience is our greatest adoration.

Jacob said, remove all thoughts, all idols and built an altar where one day God appeared to me, because today my thoughts are not governed by either the world or for me, if not they are governed by God; when we know that our thoughts are ruled by God prepare ourselves to live wonderful things, because at any moment we will see God work, responding, because we do not walk in our thoughts, if not we will live under God’s thoughts, they who minister to us. God told Joshua, you will conquer a land, you will take possession of it, and meditate day and night at my word and never depart from your mouth the book of the law and then you will make your way prosperous and everything you do you will do well.

In our thoughts we can make things go well and they should be governed by God. Paul told the Philippians, in these things, in everything good, everything pure, everything is worthy of praise, think on these things. God commands us not speak ill of our brother, often, with our thoughts we wish bad things to people, we must learn to think well of others, learn to live thinking right; Joseph told his brothers, you thought bad, Where does the attitude of his brothers to sell? In thought, Joseph said to them: you did not do me bad, you thought badly of me.

Those who think badly do not have a face to face with God, because thoughts are linked to the soul, like the emotions and decisions. Jacob said that the Lord had saved his soul, when our soul is freed and begin to live a spiritual life, when everything comes from our spirit and we worship in spirit, the soul has nothing to do, because thoughts have begun to be controlled by God.

Do not think badly of anyone, let’s begin to bless our neighbor; at some point we remain silent, saying nothing, but we are also thinking badly, and is the same. It is very difficult to think well, have a good thought of a particular situation, but think bad it costs absolutely nothing. It is very easy to have an evil thought of any particular event. We have to teach a generation to have good thoughts. If anyone thinks bad of me is not my problem if not God´s; he said, your enemies are my enemies, I bless them and keep doing, I’m not thinking about their plans against me, do not live under the evil, if not to live under the blessing.

Isaiah 26:3

You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.

God wants to lead Bethel to death our old way of thinking. That made ​​Jacob with his family, took them and led to Bethel, the place where God had changed their way of thinking, where he showed he was a real God, where he did not think badly of anyone, because God would protect him and would keep it from evil.

Think good, think that God wants the best for you and your family, he never want the opposite; simply, has been trying your life, do not want to see destroyed or ruined, this is not God, he never thought bad about the man, he will want to see good, healthy, full of life and vitality.

The man is the one who decides to think about and only determines his ways, so God said to Joshua if you want to prosper your ways meditate on my word, think about it.

There are some who are thinkers and think more than they should; if a thinker is controlled by God is a tremendous blessing, but if not, will have a life of tribulation. If the thoughts are of God will bring blessing and peace, if you think that you will not produce peace, not of God, are our own thoughts or are ministrations of others; be careful, pay attention: who controls your thoughts?.

If you understand that you have to think well, you will live many years full of life, health, comfort and peace. Joseph lived one hundred and twenty years, because he never felt bad, if not that walked into the thoughts of God.
Peter uses what the psalmist David:

Psalm 34:13-14

Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies.

Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

And Jeremiah said:

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

How difficult it is to believe in the word of a man when all life made ​​us think badly of others, when we were raised in an atmosphere of distrust, receiving teachings as “careful, because you can hurt”, “do not trust people.”

Seek peace and pursue it as Jacob sought, leading to his family and all who were with him, to where he found peace.

May the God of peace sanctify you completely, body, soul and spirit, and be preserved blameless unto the coming of Jesus Christ.

The good that you desire will return to you; the good that you’ve desired to land will return to you.
