Before starting to talk about Spiritual Warfare, is of utmost importance to establish and understand the difference between Prayer and Intercession.
Prayer is a term easily to understood by every Christian, because the definition is closely related to privacy and daily communion with our God.
Intercession is something that goes beyond prayer, is when we pray for something specific (usually by someone else, a territory or objective to be achieved), clear example is the prayer that kept the early Church, for the release of the Apostle Peter while he was in jail.
Intercession is putting yourself in the other and keep this constant prayer until the target be fulfilled; be constant and persevering in prayer for something specific.
Matthew 7:7
“Ask and it will be given to you”…
Ask –> Prayer
Search –> Worship
Call –> Intercession.
As is a spiritual warfare we need:
- Weapons: Prayer, Worship and Intercession.
- Strategies: To make effective spiritual warfare.
Strategy: Specific Plan, each city or territory need a strategy.
In what ways can we get the strategies?
An intercessor can not be linked to his soul (2 Corinthians 10:4-5), but must be linked to the supernatural, should be tested on their level of spirituality and should be also connected with the spiritual world.
We need intercessors warriors, but also, a Warrior Church that has seen as such (Ephesians 6:10).
The key to all things is the prayer, along with worship and intercession that opens the doors of revelation, that has to do with offering and sacrifice (Hebrews 9; 10:19).
Jesus offered as a living sacrifice opened the door to salvation. That is why the intercessors should be taught to worship.
Priests in ancient times praised in the holy place, but this time God commands us to worship at the holy of holies bringing offerings (sacrifice).
Without worship there can be no intercession.
- Holy Place –> Soul
- Holy of Holies –> Spirit
- Worship –> Sacrifice
Spiritual warfare can not be effective without the knowledge of the spiritual world.
Daniel 9: Here in Daniel we see a type of Christ, because it intercedes for the people’s sins and ask forgiveness for sins he did not commit.
Nehemiah 1:3-11 Found in this quote, an intercession different from Daniel.
Nehemiah intercede for the land, through the doors (symbol of authority) of Jerusalem, intercedes also for the restoration and return of the divine design (Jerusalem), and the unification of the body of Christ, the Church (verse 9).
Responding to the question posed above, for the strategy we need a clear revelation, addressed to a specific objective.
This revelation will come through:
- Prophets (Amos 3:7).
- Also through dreams and visions (Daniel 10), intelligence and understanding to remove the revelation of these have been awarded to men and women who are in authority.
- God has also used angels throughout scripture, to reveal to their sons the strategies for certain situations (Joshua 5:13-15, Daniel 10:5-6, Matthew 2:13).
Let’s see those who are given the understanding of the revelation of strategy is to men and women that God has placed in authority here on earth.
It is necessary that intercessors understand the meaning of intercession, and how through prayer, we come to the revelation of the strategy to liberate territories, cities, lives, etc.
In these age, God needs intercessors who proclame the prophetic word from heaven to fulfil that word on earth.
1 Kings 17:1 – Elijah prays for no rain.
1 Kings 18:36 – Elijah prayed for fire.
1 Kings 18:41 – Elijah prayed for rain.
James 5:17 – The Apostle James recognizes the intercession of Elijah.
Here we find an effective model for intercession. Elijah was in the presence of the Lord, as stated in the first verse of chapter 17, and to be in that place of worship, God gives the strategy to straighten the path of the people (drought).
The call on Mount Caramel was the essential step of the strategy received by God.
We see that the prophet calls a holocaust, sacrifice (as we saw above) symbolizes worship. Elias worshiped at Mount, fell fire; and with the fire, the strategy to pray for the rain fall at the right time.
In the next discipleship continue instilled in spiritual warfare.
Yours truly, wishing the richest blessings of our Lord Jesus Christ.
